Photographing plants for measurement

Good input photos are most of a good measurement. The rules are few and they matter more than camera quality:

• Even, diffuse light — avoid hard shadows across the plant material.
• A background that contrasts with the plant (plain, non-green).
• No overlapping leaves or fruit — each object fully visible.
• Shoot straight-on at a consistent distance within a series.

An ordinary phone camera is enough. Consistency of setup beats resolution every time.
